Today I was lucky enough to get a day off at school; due to (thanks to) some construction works there was no electricity; a perfect occasion for a short trip to the floating markets!
There's many of them at about 100km south from BKK; I tried to pick up one that would be less touristic possible. This one is in Aumphawa, a 2 hour bus drive from Bangkok. The floating markets were once lively trading posts and still today the wooden canoes burdened with multicoloured goods are one of the most iconic images from Thailand. It's great to see how people here spend their entire life, or almost, on the boat, selling all kinds of fantastic things and preparing meals as proper restaurants! Food is delicious, goes without saying; especially rice with mango and enormous shrimps in spicy sauce. Tezak zivot.....
